Guyanese Calcined Bauxite

 

Description

Bauxite is an aluminium ore and is the main source of aluminium. The ore itself is usually consist of the minerals gibbsite Al(OH)3, boehmite y-AlO(OH), and diaspore a-AlO(OH), in a mixture with iron ores and clays.
Guyanese Bauxite (Al2O3) is calcined by the producer in Guyana, from the gibbsite mineral, by heating in rotary kilns at temperatures above 1800 degrees Celsius. The grey colored mineral is thereafter crushed into various grain sizes up to 10 mm.

 

Applications and markets

Bauxite is typically classified according to their intended commercial application: metallurgical, abrasive, cement, chemical, and refractory.
Calcined Guyanese Bauxite is mainly consumed in the refractory industry due to its resistance to corrosion and heat and called RASC (Refractory Aggregate Super Calcined) Bauxite.
This product is also used in the road surfacing and anti-skid flooring industries because of its hardness, toughness and high polish stone values (PSV).

Minerals like Calcined Bauxite do not have to be registered under REACH.

 

Supply

We supply our Guyanese RASC Bauxite in paper bags and big bags and can deliver by truck and container from our stocks.
