Chinese Calcined Bauxite
Bauxite is an aluminium ore and is the main source of aluminium. The ore itself is usually consist of the minerals gibbsite Al(OH)3, boehmite y-AlO(OH), and diaspore a-AlO(OH), in a mixture with iron ores and clays.
Chinese Bauxite (Al2O3) is calcined by the producer in China from the diaspore mineral by heating in rotary kilns at temperatures above 1800 degrees Celsius. The grey to yellow colored mineral is thereafter crushed in to various grain sizes up to 10 mm.
Applications and markets
Bauxite is typically classified according to their intended commercial application: metallurgical, abrasive, cement, chemical, and refractory.
Chinese Calcined Bauxite is mainly consumed in the refractory industry due to its resistance to corrosion and heat resistance and therefore also called Refractory Grade Bauxite. This product can also be used in the road surfacing and anti-skid flooring industries because of its hardness, toughness and polish stone values (PSV).
At Plomp Mineral Services, we supply our Chinese Calcined Bauxite in various sizes to the refractory, road surfacing and anti-skid flooring industries, with the following general specification:
- Chemical: Al2O3 typical 86 % | SiO2 typical 6 % | Fe2O3 typical 1.5 %
- Various sizings: 0 – 75 micron | 0 – 1 mm | 1 – 3 mm | 3 – 5 mm
- Specific density: typical 3.0 kg/dm3
Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) will be sent on request.
Minerals like Calcined Bauxite do not have to be registered under REACH.
